The Montagnards are a religious indigenous group of people that live in the central highlands of Vietnam, and they have a total population of around 2.25 million people. Their name came from French, as the word "Montagnard" descripts mountain dwellers, which they are as their whole group lives on Vietnams mountains. This group is mainly rural, as they don't socialize with urban people as often, and mostly stay on their lands. The Montagnards don't interfere much with urban communities, but the Vietnamese government have not been welcoming to them since the early 2000s, and actively conduct acts of repression against the Montagnards by taking their land and controlling their religious practices. Ho Chi Minh was a Vietnamese Communist leader, and is one of the most well known Vietnamese figures in history. He was born on May 19 of 1890, in the village of Kimlien. He attended school in Hue, and in 1911, he became a cook on a French steamship and also a cook in London and Paris. Around 1920, Ho Chi Minh was in the founding group of the French Communist party. He went to Moscow for training, then in late 1924, he went to China to organize a revolutionary movement for Vietnamese exiles. China forced Ho to leave after finding out about his communist activities, but he went back to China in 1930 to create the Indochinese Communist Party. Ho stayed in Hong Kong as an representative of the Communist International but in June 1931, he was arrested by the police because they gained permission to do so, and stayed in their prisons until 1933, where he was released. He went back to the Soviet Union and got tuberculosis, and took many years recovering from it before he continued on his quest. In 1938, he went back to China to serve as a Chinese Communist Force adviser, and when Japan stayed at Vietnam in 1941, he continued with the Indochinese Communist Party, and was one of the contributors to a new independence movement, known as Vietminh, fighting the Japanese. In the middle of 1945, Japan surrendered and the Vietminh gained lots of power and publicly announced the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) . Ho, now very well known by all his efforts and accomplishments, became the president of Vietnam. France were unwilling to give freedom to Vietnam, so there was another war right before 1947 that lasted for another 8 years, and Vietnam finally defeated France. There were many conflicts that included land dividing that led the DRV to only have control of Northern Vietnam, and the DRV led by Ho Chi Minh made attempts of creating a communist society, but he was aging and his health was deteriorating, so his role was shrunk and died on September 3, 1969. Ho Chi Minh left a big mark for Vietnam in his triumph of creating Vietnamese communism and fighting off Japan, and gaining independence for Vietnam from France and China. These efforts were well appreciated because now there is a city in Vietnam named after him in honor of his devotion to Vietnam.

Nguyễn Trãi

Nguyễn Trãi is a natioanally known in Vietnam for his various brilliant works of literature and art. He was born on 1380 and died in 1442. His father was a Confucian scholar while her mother was the daughter of a highly ranked figure in the Tran Dynasty. In 1400, he graduated as a doctor and served others during the Ho Dynasty. He wrote many diplomatic letters and was accused for the death of the king, so people wanted him and his whole family to be killed, but was proven innocent in 1446. He left future generations with much to remember about him as he wrote many culturally impactful literature works such as Du dia chi and Quan Uc Trai thi tap that were all influential in that era's ideology. Due to the masterpieces of literature works Nguyễn Trãi made, in 1980, UNESCO recognized him as the world's cultural celebrity on his 600th birthday, and now he is recognized by many people globally, especially Vietnamese people as his ideas in his writings influenced the thinking of Vietnamese people to gain independence. His writings also has many important themes regarding Vietnam values that have changes perspectives of many Vietnamese people.
