A man named Ieyasu beat his rivals in a battle of Sekigahara. I learned that he became the sole leader and shogun 3 years later. He moved the capital of japan to a place that is now tokyo, but wasn't that at the time. Townspeople read new types of literature, and fiction, and read realistic stories about the people at the bottom or hardships in life, and I learned all of this. They also read the now popular and well known type of poem called haikus, which is characterized by how the lines are in length. They brought clocks, eyeglasses, tobacco, firearms, and other unknown items with. At first, the Japanese took no action, however after a while the shogun banned Christianity there and focused on ridding all Christians from there. They started fearing religious uprisings more as well. They wouldn't even trade for a very long time, but eventually allowed it.
