         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Graduated from highschool in 1917<br>- Worked briefly at Kansas City Star newspaper, he relied on the newspaper's style guide as a foundation for his writing: "Use short sentences. Use short first paragraphs. Use vigorous English. Be positive, not negative."<br>- He left for Italy to work as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross<br>- He was wounded and while he was recovering in a hospital in Milan, he fell in love with a nurse. He proposed to her, but she turned him down and he returned to the United States.<br>- In 1920 he moved to Paris with his new wife Hadley Richardson, to try to pursue his career in journalism<br>- Life in Paris wasn't easy, due to the fact that his work in journalism wasn't bringing in a lot of money<br>- He then met some very influential people, Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound and F. Fitzgerald<br>- In 1926 he public his first major novelle "The sun also rises" - it was an immediate succes<br>- Sadly his marriage with Hadley worn out and it ended shortly after</div>]]></description>
