This shows the narrator is Stella's sister. Evidence that she is a girl is in paragraph 21 where the text says, "I felt like Miss Average." This shows she is a girl because of the 'Miss'.

I know this because in paragraph 21 ,the text states " I felt like Miss Average.'' I also know this because in paragraph 2 it says '' And sometimes when I was listening, I'd think of things my sister, Stella had said .''

The story is shown through Stella's Sister's (Dinnie's) eyes. Her POV (point of view) affects the story because if it was told by Guthrie, we wouldn't know about how Dinnie couldn't figure out who she was or how she wants to be different but also wants to be normal. For example, in paragraph 14, the text states "Sometimes I wanted to be the same, because then you'd have friends... but deep down inside my bubble, I wanted to be different." This shows that she wants to be different sometimes but wanted to be average. If Guthrie narrated, we wouldn't know about how Dinnie felt. Another example is in paragraph 20, the text says, "I'd wonder how she came to know what kind of person she was." This means she didn't know who she was and wondered how other people found out. So, to sum it up, Dinnie's POV affects the story because life is seen through her eyes, not anyone else's. Everyone's views are different, noone is the same; therefore, the story will be different depending on who tells it.

Also it says, "This wasn't just another new town and this wasn't just another new school everybody here was from different places."

Paragraph 20 states,"And every time she'd say something like this, I'd wonder how she came to know what kind of person she is." Paragraph 19 states,"I'd always felt as if I was in some sort of suspension, waiting to see how things worked, waiting I to see who I was and what kind of life I might lead." This proves that she has absolutely no idea who she is.

A piece of evidence from the story is "What I liked about them is that Guthrie was complete Guthrie through and through, and Lila was Lila through and through." This shows that the narrator was a little jealous of Guthrie and Lila. So that's why I think that the narrator can affect the story.

For example, Lily says she is "Invisible" because of her silence. If the narrator was someone who did not consider their self invisible the POV would be different because their opinion was different. And if Lily had not been the narrator, we wouldn't know how Lily was feeling, which is affecting the story.

In "Cicada Summer," Lily's POV (point of view) affects the story because you get to hear about how she thinks, how she feels. If the story was told from Bobby's perspective we wouldn't hear about how Lily feels "invisible" or how she thinks Ricky is a dork. In paragraph 19, the text says, "He doesn't notice because I'm invisible." This means she feels like no one sees her and we wouldn't hear about this if the story was Bobby's POV. You can also see that in paragraph 14, the text says, "Ricky Fitzgerald is a dork." This means that she simply thinks he's a dork. Again, we wouldn't know this if Bobby told the story from his perspective. So this means her POV affects the story because it's her personal thoughts and feelings, not anyone else's.

According to the text, "He doesn't notice me because I am invivisible." This means that Lily feels invisible. The text also states, "You can tell anything about a person by looking them in the eye. I don't want anyone to know anything about me so I look away." This means that it is her fault and actions why she was "inviisible." If Lily was talking to people they would knoe more about her. If the story was in a different persepctive, we would have never known this piece of information and how this is actually how Lily is feeling.

The narrator affects the story because if it were told by Rose Miner it would take a cheater point of view, to prove this in paragraph 9 it states in the back row, where the hopeless cases sit- where there's a desk with my name on it- Rose Miner is cheating off of Tommy Burkette." Another way to prove that the point of view would change would be if the the story was told by Judy Thomas. It would have a mood where it seems like Judy Thomas is the best, to prove this is in paragraph 8 it states, "When Mrs. Kirk says the next word, Judy will spell it as fast as she can in her perfect handwriting, then she'll look around to see if she finished first." This shows that the point of view would change if it were told by a different character.

Lily and Dinnie's POV's are different. Although they may have some similarities. Dinnie is friends with Lila and Guthrie, but in Cicada Summer feels "invisible", meaning she feels alone. Dinnie didn't bring her issues on herself, but Lily's "invisibility" issue was brought on herself. For example, in Bloomability, the text states, ".. But inside, deep inside my bubble, I also wanted to be different." This means she didn't want to be average, while on the other hand, Lily purposely became "invisible." For example, in Cicada Summer, the text says, "I don't want anyone to know anything about me, so I look away." This means she doesn't want to let people know anything about her, making it hard to be friends with her. So, in conclusion, the two are different because Dinnie didn't want to be average, but Lily wanted to be invisible.

The narrator in Cicada Summer's problem is she feels like an invisible person. She is an introvert and she doesn't look people in the eye. she doesn't want to share anything about herself and she doesn't feel like she matters. I know this because in the text, it says, "He doesn't even notice me standing there." and also it says," He doesn't notice me because I'm invisible." and clearly she is not new to this invisible thing because it says, "I've been invisible for 2 years now."

The Problem both narrators face is that they both feel like outsiders. One way to prove this is in the text "Excerpt from Bloomabilty" from paragraph 19 it states, "I'd always felt as if I was in some sort of suspension, waiting to see how things worked, waiting to see who I was and what life I might lead, and then moving to a new town before I could figure out any of those things." In "Excerpt from Cicada Summer" in paragraph 18 it states, "He doesn't say, "Move Lily," or anything. He doesn't even notice me standing there." Both of these pieces of evidence prove that the narrators are similar in the fact that they both like outsiders.

The problems in "Excerpt from Bloomability" and "Excerpt from Cicada Summer" are similar because they are both emocional. Some piece of evidence from "Excerpt from Bloomability " to support this is " Sometimes I wanted to be the same , because then you'd have friends , and you wouldn't be just the new kid, but inside, deep inside my bubble, I also wanted to be different." This shows that the narrator wants to be the same but also she wanted to different. Another detail from "Excerpt from Cicada Summer" is " Mrs. Kirk says, " Bobby, would you get rid of it, please?"...... " He doesn't say, "Move Lily," or anything. He doesn't notice me because I'm invisible." This means that Lila feels invisible but for other people she is seen as plain as day. This shows that they are both emocional problems.

Lily's problem is that she feels invisible and stellas sisters problem is that she doesn't know who she is. Paragraphs 19-20 from cicada summer state, "He doesn't notice because i'm invisible. Most people would say that's a lie. They'd say that i'm not invisible because they can see me plain as day. Most people are wrong." Lily's problem is that she is invisible. In paragraph 20 of Bloomability states,"And every time she'd say something like this, I'd wonder how she came to know what kind of person she is." This proves that she doesn't know how to figure out what kind of person she is." Her problem is that she doesn't know who she is.
