Medicine/ Healthcare Virtual Work Experience Mon Nights

A free course for all students aged 14-19 interested in healthcare.

Perfect for all students aged 14-19 interested in Biology, Science, healthcare and of course those considering careers in medicine.

Students can join doctors live and online every Monday at 7.30pm in September as they go through real life patient cases from symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Students that cannot attend live will have access to the recordings to watch whenever they have time.

All of the doctors work in busy NHS hospitals in England so this is a unique opportunity to learn more about healthcare and gain some fantastic material to use in med school applications and to talk about at interview as verified work experience.

At the heart of our Marine sector is our 320 acre Rosyth facility, which is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. The facilities have been an iconic presence on the River Forth for more than 100 years and carry a name synonymous with engineering excellence. Our world-class assets and infrastructure support a diverse range of naval and commercial marine programmes as well as advanced manufacturing.

Engineering Apprenticeships:
Working through a 4-year, fully accredited Modern Apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, and to specialise in one of a number of engineering-based trades which will be assigned prior to you taking up the post (Electrical, Mechanical, Welding, Fabrication, Pipeworker & Machinist CNC).

If you are successful in your application, your specific areas of responsibility on the programme will include building your understanding and knowledge of engineering principles, attending college and submitting work within set deadlines and completing academic and vocational training activities. In all activities undertaken, participants will be required to meet the standards set out within the Modern Apprenticeship and by Babcock.

Possible placements:
You will undertake placements on site within our production areas to broaden your knowledge and experience and work towards your SVQ level 3 qualification.

HR Admin Assistant (Modern Apprentice)

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, where the successful candidate will mainly work from home. Ideally based within Fife or where you can travel to Glenrothes regularly for training and team who can travel to Glenrothes. We are a Living Wage employer.

This is an immediate start and ideally looking for someone to join the team before the end of October 2022.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As the HR Admin Assistant, you will support the team and our clients throughout the recruitment life cycle and provide general administration support. The role is extremely varied with a wide range of administrative tasks and the ability to work with our team on some of our vacancies. You will also be involved in some HR administration tasks, including adding updating our online Breathe HR Software tool.

Full training will be provided, along with the opportunity to complete a Scottish Vocational Qualification.

What can you expect?

These are some of the things you can expect to do if you’re successful:

Responsible for updating our recruitment tracker system, external job boards and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) with vacancy information
Scheduling interviews, and/or assessment centres
Generation of recruitment correspondence including offer letters and contracts of employment
Being a point of contact for prospective candidates and new joiners relating to questions about the recruitment process or onboarding process
Ownership and maintenance of recruitment spreadsheets, templates and key recruitment documents
Manage the Recruitment inbox in a timely and professional manner
Answer inbound and make outbound calls to clients and candidates

- Micro-d, cables & connectors
- Preparation techniques, wiring and soldering skills

· Read and follow manufacturing documents

· Use of precision hand tools for electronic & cable assemblies

Join Boots after the Christmas Holidays on this unique virtual opportunity to learn more about careers within the market leader in the world of healthcare, beauty and retail, all while getting to interact in activities, independently and in groups with other young people from across the country.

The sessions are follows:

Session 1: 10th January – Introduction – Discovering Boots as an organisation (mandatory)

Option 1 - Discover ‘life-changing’ careers in Healthcare and Patient Care

Session 2: 17th January – Careers in Pharmacy

Session 3: 24th January – Careers in Opticians

Option 2 – Discover careers that delight our customers everyday

Session 4: 31st January – Careers in Retail (Including Beauty)

Session 5: 7th February – Careers in Supply Chain

Option 3 - ‘Behind the scenes’ Careers at Boots

Session 6: 28th February – Careers in STEM (Including IT)

Session 7: 6th March – Careers at Boots Support office (including Marketing)

Session 8: 13th March – Discovering your next steps after work experience (mandatory)

Previously 92% of those attending virtual work experience with Boots would now consider starting a career in the organisation and 93% felt the experience had useful to add to their CV, so this is an opportunity not to be missed!

We encourage students to attend as many of these sessions as they like but ask for attendance at least in sessions 1 & 8.
