         <description><![CDATA[<div>All state senators and representatives are directly elected by the people in their voting districts.<br><br>Candidates will typically take part in a primary in order to be put on the general election ballot, and the candidate will then have to win a plurality of the votes during the general election.<br><br>Most states require a two-part process consisting of a closed or semi-closed primary during which only voters registered to a certain party can choose candidates to go on to represent that party in a general election.</div>]]></description>
