Burnside’s Expedition - Battle of Roanoke:

The battle was in Roanoke Island, NC. The Union North Carolinians focused on ways to enforce a sea blockade. The confederacy wanted to keep roanoke island in hand since it held all of their ports and they would lose all of eastern North Carolina if they had lost to the Union. Burnside had won the battle, taking over Roanoke island. It was and wasn't an important battle through the war because Burnside had departed the island , giving it back to North Carolina but North Carolina needed that space since they mainly put their soldiers in other battles during the war.
