American Airlines Company/AA

American airlines started operations in 1930 via a union of more than 80 small airlines. American airlines was originated from two organizations: Robertson aircraft corporation and Colonial air transport. The former was first created in Missouri in 1921 with both being merged in 1929 into holding company the aviation corporation. This in turn was made in 1930 into an operating company and rebranded as American Airways in 1934 when new laws forced the airline to reorganize. The corporation redid the routes into a connected system and was renamed American Airlines. American had a direct role in the development of the Dc-3 which resulted from a several telephone calls from American Airlines ceo C R Smith to Douglas aircraft company founder Donald Wills Douglas senior when Smith persuaded a reluctant Douglas to design to a sleeper aircraft based on the DC-2 to replace americans Curtis Condor II biplanes. The existing DC2's cabin was 66 inches (1.7 meters) wide, too narrow for side-by-side births. Douglas agreed to go ahead with development only after Smith informed him for American's intention to purchase 20 aircraft the prototype DST (Douglas Sleeper Transport) first flew on December 17, 1935 (the 32nd anniversary of the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk). Its cabin was 92 in (2.3 meters) wide and a version with 21 seats instead of the 14 to 16 sleeping berths of the DST as given the designation DC-3. There was no prototype DC-3, the first DC-3 built followed seven DSTs of the production line and was delivered to American Airlines. The company inaugurated Passenger service on June 26th, 1936, with simultaneous flight for Newark, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois. Between 1970 and 2000, the company grew into being an international air carrier, purchasing trans world airlines in 2001. In the same year two planes of american airlines crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagonon on a terrorist attack in United States. This attack occurred on 09/11/2001. The flights 11 and 77 were included and the planes were a Boeing 767-200 and a Boeing 757-200 as well. The B767 crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center and the B757 crashed into the Pentagonon. Other two flights (united 93 and 175) were included too. In 2011, due to a downturn in the airline industry, American Airlines' parent company AMR corporation filed for bankruptcy protection. In 2013, American Airlines merged with U.S. airways but kept the American Airlines name, as it was the better recognized brand internationally. The combination of the two airlines resulted on the creation of the largest airline in the U.S. and ultimately the world.

Delta Airlines Air Company

The legacy carriers are somewhat interesting non-jew to their flamboyant history, but also the way they shape the industry as we know it today and are continuously envolving the market as the days go by. Ever since the early 2000s, the Legacy carriers how carried a negative image with them and telling the smiles of millions of passangers upside down. Known for their very basic costumer service, the corporate persona that they've adopted to please the investors the people of the US and the Legacy carriers have often clashed with one another. Although the comments made regarding the Airlines may be true to an extent, Delta Airlines can be seen as an airline which is making progress trying to please the customer waka PR and an attempt to move forward. Although the future looks very bright, their past was a difficult one so the naming of Delta Airlines occurred in 1928 when Collett Woolman purchased the company and renamed the Delta Air Service and started flying passengers and the real origin of the airline actually started in 1924
when it was only a tiny crop-dusting company in northeastern Louisiana called Huftaling Dusters now Collett Woolman was mesmerized by the prospect of flight I wanted to launch his own airline little did he realize that it will become one of the biggest airlines in the world so the World War happened and the airline benefited by purchasing military aircraft at a very cheap price. At this point that growth started to increase and they wanted to stretch ther legs so he decided to purge his Chicago and southerm airlines in 1953. The takeover was almost a merger which saw Delta flying under the Korean name of Delta CNS for the next two years. This was a great move for the airline because it provided them with their first international route so they looked planes and they were growing and to help with the increase of demand they purchased new jets, such as the DCA's. This allowed the airline to start fliyng to Europe in the 1970's and across the Pacific to Australia in the 1980's. There was a further expansion when Northeast Airlines was acquired in August 1972 allowing it to expand farmly along the eastern seaboard of the United States by this time thy were consolidate i'm fairly established within the aviation market however competition from all sides was getting more heated as the saying in business goes if you can't flight them then by them and that's exactly what Delta did, so by 1986 they had their eyes on Western Airlines many protests occurred from the public and also the union's tried to stop the workforce integration, however the efforts were only futile. The takeover was complete and Weston's former hope in Salt Lake City became Delta's major hub allowing them to access destinations, such as Mexico, Hawaii, and even Australia. Now we know that in the industry you have to continuosly innovate in order to stay alive and relevant, Delta was no exception. They introduced in flight entertainment in the 60's when audio programming was introduced using headphones. They also adopted in flight movies with projection equipment on the l-1011 fleet. In addition, they were also one of the first airlines to introduce an in seat video system in 1999, which gained a lot of publicity on the early Boeing B777/Triple7 aircraft. So by the mid 1990's Delta was profitable long-haul, but they were suffering increasing competition on short haul routes, so the airline decided to launch Delta Express in 1996 in attempt to compete with low-cost airlines on leisure oriented routes. Its main base of operations was in Orlando, but in 2003 they moved to JFK. They carried high load from the northeast of Florida are very low fared, but they could never really compete with JetBlue and other low-cost airlines. Delta Express was replaced by Song which was a new low fare airline that Delta introduced, but that was also dismounted a few years later. So the years moved on and old habits die very hard and it's time to by another airline. Northwest Airline was taken over by Delta in October 2008 to form the world's biggest airline during that
