This is just another form of miscommunication, however texts and emails can be taken the wrong way more often than miscommunication when physically speaking to someone. 

Everyone needs to watch how they word a text or an email. By doing this they will avoid miscommunication with the person receiving the text or email. It is important for everyone to re-read a text or email to make sure that is exactly what they want or mean to say. Always remember the person receiving the text or email cannot see your expression or hear your tone of voice.

It changes the mood of the discussion board so we want to respect others and give back positive and good feedback. 

By respecting others and giving positive feedback, it will ensure that everyone can benefit from the discussion board. Others will be more confident expressing their opinions and ideas with a positive vibe on the discussion board. Even if someone writes about something you do not agree with, express your reasoning as to why you do not agree in a respectful way.

Rules are designed to be followed so that everyone can access a website safely and have fun online. If people break the rules, the websites will not be able to protect everyone safely. Just like writing an essay for an assignment in class, it is important to write using correct grammar and spelling when writing online for class. Students are familiar with typing in shorthand or 'text-speak' when talking with friends and sometimes 'text-speak' might pop up in the classroom and it's important for students to be able to differentiate the difference between which form of grammar and spelling to be used in the classroom.
