I agree that the internet has changed our reading habits for the worse.

The internet allows users to get small rewards--a message from a friend, an interesting story on social media, a new job lead--every time they pick up a gadget. These rewards increase dopamine production, creating a vicious cycle that encourages users to keep accessing the Internet to keep getting a "hit" of dopamine. This <del>addictive natured games or apps which </del>cause us to become addicted without realising. More often, there are times when we browse on the internet and we don’t really take note on the amount of time wasted. I believe since internet has a strong hold on us, it has cause us to have lesser time to read books. People would be distracted by the incessant 'ping' of notifications from their phones and can distracted easily from reading. <del>would rather choose the internet than physical books as they are far more convenient , hence they might read books for maximum an hour a week due to morning assembly.</del> I have also experienced myself being a slave of the internet when I went through my journal and realised that the amount of books i used to read has drastically decreased due to my constant need to be on the internet so hence now I have put aside atleast an hour before my bed time dedicated to books.

Alternatively, there is still a bunch of others that chose the physical book instead of the online version. In those people opinion, having the physical copy gives them a satisfaction feeling that an e-book cannot offer. What is this satisfaction? Having a physical copy of a book allows us to turn the page slowly and truly immerse oneself in the story. Some of my favourite books emit a kind of smell that puts in me a sense of nostalgia which rekindles my childhood memories...In addition, many reader have a hobby of displaying the book they had finish reading, thus some prefer having the physical book. INCOMPLETE; UNGRADED

Technology has helped me a lot with my learning . During the pandemic we spent most of our time at home and engage ourselves with home-based learning. <del>even resulted in studying at home too.</del> There are many times where we have to attend lessons through zoom and google meet , and this means that we have to use technology for learning frequently. Moreover with the new personal learning device that us , students , received from the government. We now have technology at our fingertips. This device allows teachers to upload other school paper and even answer keys on google classroom .This helped us a lot as we don't have to wait till we go back to get papers from our teachers and it is thus more effective. Besides that, with modern technology , there are many platforms like reddit where we are able to post our questions that we need help with and others using the platform are also able to help us. Technology has brought much convenience to our lives , be it consulting others for help online or <del>ordering food </del>and meeting many people at one time much more easier. Focus on learning not ordering food.

I think that many people in the video were feeling curious about the robot roaming around their tables. This video took place in a hawker centre. Many people were turning their heads to get a look at the robot. There was a kid who was feeling playful and decided to stand in front of the robot, but the robot stopped in its tracks. There were two elderly people who were intrigued by the presence of the tray return robot. If I was in that hawker centre, I'd definitely use that robot to return my trays. I feel that having a robot in a hawker centre is very convenient as we do not have to walk to the other end of the hawker centre to return our trays. I also think that it is very helpful for disabled people so they do not have to walk long distances to return their trays. they are disabled and they can still walk? You can add on... Yhe use of the robots can minimise fatigue for cleaners. However, people will be less motivated to clean up after themselves and rely on the robot to do so. A robot can also undergo wear and tear, and may not be available sometimes. People may use this as an excuse to leave their food behind for our elderly cleaners to clear. This can cause people to be less gracious and considerate for others in the community.

I agree that internet changed our reading habits for the worse.
Firstly, due to the rising trend of digitisation, a plethora of information is available to us in the form of short posts or small paragraphs. So people now prefer reading short paragraphs than reading thick books with long paragraphs. We have lost the art of mindful reading and reading critically since we no longer have the patience to understand the full story, the plot or subtle messages a text offers. We are quick to jump to conclusions by briefly reading the headlines and one or two paragrapgs before our attention span is cut short.

Secondly, With technological advancement, the frequency of reading books has decreased significantly over the recent years. People spend less time reading as more time to use for other things such as using social media platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram. For example,i have been reading since young however when i started using smartphones, i got <del>hype out with it</del>.(no such expression exist!) I have become distracted easily by the incessant ping of notifications from my social media apps and the lure of dopamine-inducing mobile games. Thus i have less time for myself to seat down and read at least a few page of my storybook.

some may argue that the reading can be brought online making it accessible to all to read regardless of the place and time. However how many people will actually use the internet to read, since the internet is such a easy place to get distracted.Who will actually not get distracted and focus on their reading
In conclusion i think that the internet bring the worse out of one's reading habit.
NEED MORE PERSONAL EXPERIENCES/EXAMPLES
