Mix-Pair-Share is a way for students to share their ideas in partners, and with multiple partners.

How does it work?

It works by students walking around the classroom (mix), sometimes when music is playing, and when told to stop, they partner up with the person closest to them (pair). Then they will take turns sharing their thoughts about a certain topic or questions (share).

This is great by sharing prior knowledge, review what we learned last time, and also connecting with students and their ideas.

For example, in 1st grade students are learning about the patterns of the sun, moon, and stars. We may have read a story about it yesterday. I would invite students to do this activity to review what we learned from reading yesterday.
