2.Write what are the ideas you need to focus.

Example: You hear a woman telling a friend about a conversation she had with her parents. How did her parents feel about her news? = I will expect to hear descriptions of emotions then.

3.Scan the multiple options and spot the emotions they give you.

Example for the question mentioned above:

A furious that she wouldn't complete her studies.

B astonished that she hadn't consulted them.

C pleased that she'd made a good decision.

4.You know you won’t hear the answer in exactly the same words as in the question, so in your mind think of synonym words or similar ideas for these words (paraphrasing).

Examples:

• furious (fed up, angry, upset)

• astonished (surprised, amazed, didn't expect)

• pleased (delighted, happy, excited)

5.Don't forget to be careful with distractors, these are the words the test designers include to make sure you are not just choosing an option as soon as you hear that word in the listening.

6.Stick to your plan, you have to listen carefully for meaning, for the idea they are asking.

7.After listening, you will identify the correct answer is being paraphrased, choose the idea that best answers the question.
