She is now a social activist and writer because of her experiences and she wishes to represent and help other disabled people who are discriminated in fashion. She was one of the top 100 most influential women in 2014, she delivered a testimony for the Disability Royal Commission in 2022, and also received a Medal of Order of Australia in 2020 for her work as a disability advocate and activist.

-Vihaan

In 1959, he relocated to Townsville, where he began a family and worked at a number of jobs. His cultural identity was based on Meriam customs and Malo law even though he lived in mainland Australia. Koiki got involved in community groups and politics, where she promoted the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

When Koiki and his family attempted to return to their own country, they encountered prejudice, which gave him the will to strive for acceptance and justice. He started the Black Community School in Townsville in 1973, protesting the way Aboriginal pupils were treated by the educational system. The school persevered in the face of adversity and grew to become a symbol of courage.

Koiki's life took a significant shift when he discovered that the land he had thought belonging to his village was actually crown land. This insight led to the historic Mabo case, where Koiki battled the legal system for his property rights. With the help of attorney Greg McIntyre, Koiki's case became well-known across Australia and turned into an important moment in the country's history.

With his commitment and diligence, Koiki Mabo broke through the stereotype and paved the way for Indigenous land rights in Australia. His reputation is upheld by his services to politics, education, and the well-known case that carries his name. The story of Eddie Koiki Mabo stands as a testament to the fortitude of tenacity and the solid devotion to justice in the face of adversity.

-Silpa

Founded on the 7th of July 1991, the Australian Republic Movement (ARM) is the most prominent organisation advocating political and constitutional change to establish an Australian republic. Although it has declined in influence over the years, during the 1990s, it played an important role in the debate over Australia's constitutional arrangements going into the 21st Century. The ARM cites a desire for an Australian head of state as the primary motivator behind their push for an Australian republic. Despite failing to abolish the monarchy (as of yet), the ARM managed to win 27 out of 76 elected delegates to the 1998 Constitutional Convention. Since then, it has also made participated in senate committee hearings as well as a senate inquiry which eventually produced a report known as "The road to a republic".

Zubair Ahmed

The organisation knows that changing the social attitude towards this issue is complex and requires being informed, and using evidence to support their actions.

They think that, after a survey showing only 47% of Australians think violence against women is a problem in their suburb/town, that this needs to change since another study found one in two Australian women have been sexually harassed.

Their website includes prevention strategies/plans, which are categorized into primary (how to stop the issue before it starts), secondary (having early intervention during the violence) and tertiary (stopping existing violence).

-Bethany

Brown was born in Melbourne on 11 November 2000, and pursued an arts degree in 2019 at Melbourne University. She gained public attention after giving a speech at Melbourne's Invasion Day rally in 2017, where she made it clear that her mission was to advocate for Aboriginal youth and educate the community about Indigenous affairs.

Brown believes that there should be more education on Aboriginal culture, especially in schools. She also believes that the date for Australia Day should be changed, as not many people understand its signifcance and the true meaning, and that there should be more Aboriginal representation in parliament. She was driven to fight for these things based on her experience in the Australian education system, and wishes that Aboriginal students find their time in school worthwhile. This makes her an activist for both political and social changes.

- Amna Noor

So, at the age of 16, she fought to stop the expansion of the Vickery coalmine. In the end, within the case of Sharma and others vs the Ministers, it was ruled that the expansion should not undergo due to concerns for the youths' future. Not only is this an environmental change, but this case will also change others regarding environment, thus suggesting it is also a political change. They fought for these changes because if they did not, they wouldn't be sure that the future could be sustained for further generations (source: ABC)
