What did you find successful or unsuccessful about the concert?

Overall, I would say the concert was pretty successful. From what I observed of the symphonic band, the performance titled “celebration overture” which was the opener was very fast paced with a medium sound that would go high pitch then low pitch. All the performers were flowing together as one, some composers were even balancing between two instruments and switching over just in time to meet the next transition which I found to be pretty impressive. It kind of have an exciting feel, that included the audience into the celebratory feel the music conveyed. I think the performers did an excellent job of reflecting the mood of the music onto their audience, and making the music feel special/beautiful.

What pieces stood out to you the most? Why?

The pieces that stood out to me the most was the opening music “Celebratory overture” because I like music that’s high in tempo and has a fast speed which are some Characteristic that piece obtained. I enjoyed watching the artist play the piece as well because it looked like the music was just following through them and the theme of it seemed fun, and just put me in a happy mood. The rhythm of that piece was something I even caught my knee bopping to, so for a genre I wouldn’t typically listen to, I would say that Is a good thing. I Also enjoyed “FanFare for 16 Horns” and "Silverado" because it reminded me of the tune you here in the movies before the actual movie starts?? I’m not sure if I’m correct but the beginnings did feel oddly familiar.

Can you connect with this kind of concert experience? Why or why not? Why does this music matter (or not) to you? Can you see traces of the music you love in this music? Why or why not?

I think I can connect to this kind of music because it feels like I have unknowingly been exposed to some classical music when I was younger, but just didn’t realize it, so it brings a kind of nostalgia. However, I also don’t know if I could ever see myself actually paying to go sit down and watch a classical concert because I might feel out of place, or won’t know when to clap, and some pieces I didn’t find interesting so I would feel bored. Classical music was never of a huge importance to me but I can say it does matter and I appreciate it. Classical music paved the way for a lot of my favorite modern musicians whose songs sample "classical music" that i dearly enjoy. Its not easy to create a beautiful tune to flow simultaneously/ fluently without really using lyrics but somehow still affect your mood which Is what this genre does.
