Although Guadeloupe is an island with strong winds throughout the year, it has only 18 wind turbines. This is surprising, as the natural conditions are ideal for producing wind energy. With more investment in renewable energy, Guadeloupe could take better advantage of its windy climate and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.

Today we had a wonderful time all together!We learned a lot of interesting things about Guadeloupe.

What fascinated me the most was weaving hats with Jordan!I really enjoyed it!

We ll all keep this memory in our hearts! ❤️

On the beaches of Guadeloupe, there are 32 different shades of sand, ranging from black to white. The whitest sand is found at Pointe des Châteaux, which is not actually made of typical sand grains, but of crushed coral.

Unfortunately I did not learn to make hats, but my trip to Châteux taught me not to trust Google Maps as much as I used to, as they did not lead us to the sandy beach they'd promised!

Yesterday I learnt how to make a hat out of palm leaves.

In spring, the whales come to the islands around Guadeloupe to give birth to their calves.

For some local residents, going to the sea is not a matter of course, as tradition holds that the sea is the ‘end of the world’; for them, however, it has historical significance dating back to the era of slavery – the end of their lives begins when they reach the islands. There are also local projects on the island aimed at breaking with these beliefs, but this only works if several generations of the family are involved.

Supplying the islands with electricity and water is a challenge; some islands are connected by cables and pipelines running through the sea. There are also several wind turbines on the islands to generate more sustainable and independent electricity.
