CLIL integrates content learning with language learning.

It boosts student motivation and participation.

It offers a global and interdisciplinary perspective.

Requires well-prepared teachers in both content and language.

One of the key advantages of CLIL is that it increases students’ motivation. Learning science through English offers authentic language exposure and practical use, making the lesson more engaging. Students develop cognitive skills like analyzing and reasoning, while also improving their vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication abilities in English.

The article also explains that CLIL allows for cross-curricular connections and promotes global competence by integrating diverse topics and cultural perspectives. For instance, while studying the water cycle, students might also explore global water scarcity issues, enhancing both scientific understanding and cultural awareness.

After reading both articles, I believe that science education plays a crucial role in shaping students' critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the world. It goes far beyond memorizing facts; it teaches students how to ask questions, investigate, and draw conclusions based on evidence. I also found the CLIL approach very innovative, as it allows students to learn scientific content while improving their English skills at the same time. This dual focus helps make lessons more dynamic and meaningful. However, it also requires teachers to be well-prepared in both subject matter and language instruction. In my view, combining science and language through real-life, engaging contexts is one of the best ways to make learning both relevant and enjoyable.
