How did the media of the time use to represent migration?

The media of the time saw the arrival of dark skinned migrants as an attack on the integrity of the White Australia Policy, when the migrants first arrived. Soon after though, they changed thought. The media are the main reason that the White Australia Policywas taken down, and that Australia is now a more fair and inclusive place. After the war, people sought a safe place to live, and after Australia offered them a home, many people came to live in Australia. This is how Australia became non-British. But how did this happen. The answer lies within the media. They were responsible for making movies depicting how Australia was a fantastic place to live, and advertizing them around the world. They used propaganda to attract migrants, though only beautiful migrants qualified. After, more migrants came, that the public had not expected. After all the WHite Australia policy was still in favour. So they made a full feature length documentay about what the refugees had experienced, and the public began to sympathize with the migrants.

Why did Arthur Caldwell face such opposition frm the public

Arthur Caldwell made some brilliant decisions regarding Holocaust victoms. Hower the Australian public opposed these, as after Japans bombing they still feared people without white skin. They were not used to people with different religion or culture. they were unsure about how these new people would act, or if they held a threat to the safety of the public. they thought that there was a possibility that the migrants would be favoured, by the government, and that the rest of the public would be made to suffer. However, they were not against the idea of British migrants living in Australia, and were agreeable once Caldwell made them think that the number of British migrants would outway those from other, foreign places. However, Calwell was lying, the number of foreign migrants greatly outwayed the number of foreign migrants. But, he got away with it, disguising the migrants from different places.

Why did Australia need immagration at the time?

#1: They used migrants for defence forces, protecting the country against Japans bombing. the migrants had no choice, they had to protect the country if they wanted to reside in Australia for the time being. After the war was over however the migrants were shipped back to their home countries.
#2: Australia needed people to help build there cities, especially after the war. Many of Australias oldest buildings were created by migrants forced to create Australias infastructure. However the men transported over wee not allowed to have a career in anything else, other than building.
#3: Another reason would be that Australia wanted young, beautiful, white migrants that would fit in with Australias public, to marry Australians, build the communities, and find people to marry Australians.
#4: Furthermore, they wanted migrants to start families with Australians, and repopulate the society, after the Holocaust bombing, because white Australian babies being born was not enough. however they were very particular about which migrants were transported, and only young beautiful people made the cut. So, Arthur Caldwell used the media of the time to advertise propaganda to attract migrants and immagrants that passed the test and would fit in with society. This, he hoped would convince sceptical Australians that Migration was the answer.
#5: Australia wanted to hold piece between the nations.

The poster says things that attract migrants such as:
land of oppourtunities
good wages-there will be good pay here, and it is a fantasic place to live
employment guaranteed- nobody will turn you down
plenty of oppourtunities-many work, social and hapiness oppourtunities, there will be a variety of jobs and one will suit you

Key Features:
"The call of the stars". As there are five stars in our southern cross, Australia is going for five different star points, to make Australia great, with migrant help. The colours displayed represent freedom and oppourtunity for all. The language used is all about how Australia, and "how the stars shine over us" and how "we need British people to help build a bright future for Australia".

The advantages:
At this time Australia needed immagrants for a variety of reasons, but mainly it was because having immagrants living in the Australian society made Australia a multiculteral nation. This, allowed us to understand and accept the new way of life that accepting migrants brought us, and to accept more diverse ays of life that we had never thought of before, which made Australia more open. Australia was able to extend open arms to new languages, traditions and food.
However there were some disadvantages: When immagrants from other countries immigrated they were full of new traditions and religions from their home countries. This could have caused religious or culteral disagreemants between the immagrants, and the Australians.
