This pink blanket was something I used to sleep with all the time as an infant. It symbolizes the concept of attachment, a key aspect of infant development. During this stage, infants form emotional bonds with objects or caregivers that provide security and comfort. The blanket likely helped me feel safe and secure, which is essential for healthy emotional development. It also represents sensory exploration, as infants often engage with familiar objects to help soothe themselves and feel more connected to their environment.

As an infant, I would always want to dress up in my dark blue princess dress. This dress represents the early stages of cognitive and social development, where I began to explore the concept of identity and self-expression. During infancy, children start to engage with their surroundings and the people in their lives, and dressing up in a princess dress might have been my way of exploring roles and imagination. It also reflects the development of motor skills as I learned to dress myself or interact with the world around me through play, which is a critical aspect of infant development.

This picture of me cheering represents early childhood physical development, where I developed coordination, balance, and strength. My artefact for this milestone is my cheer pom poms. Cheerleading requires gross motor skills like jumping and balancing, as well as fine motor skills for precise movements with my arms and hands. At this stage in my childhood, my physical abilities were becoming more refined, allowing me to perform more complex tasks and activities, which is a key part of early childhood development.

Play-Doh was a favorite toy during my early childhood, and it represents cognitive development as it encouraged creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. As I molded different shapes and figures, I worked on my hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Play-Doh also helped me understand concepts like texture, form, and transformation as I shaped it into various objects. This type of play promotes cognitive growth by stimulating creativity, fine motor skills, and the ability to plan and solve simple problems.

This picture of me with my brother and sister represents early childhood social development, where I began to learn key social skills like sharing, cooperation, and communication. My artifact for this is the bond between me and my siblings as well as the church we would go to every Sunday where different variations of this picture were taken. Interacting with my brother and sister during everyday activities helped me understand the importance of relationships and teamwork. At this stage, I was developing empathy and learning to navigate social dynamics, which are crucial skills for building healthy relationships and emotional intelligence.

This picture of me with my brother and sister captures a moment from my middle childhood, when physical development was key to my growth. The artifact for this milestone is this swing set. At this age, we were more active, engaging in outdoor play, sports, and physical activities that helped improve our coordination, strength, and endurance. Interacting with my siblings during these activities also encouraged teamwork and the development of motor skills, like running, jumping, and balancing. This stage of development allowed me to gain more independence and confidence in my physical abilities.

This picture of me winning a cooking competition represents cognitive development during middle childhood, where I was able to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. My artifact for this is my chefs hat and award. During this stage, I started to understand complex concepts and use reasoning to solve problems, like following recipes, measuring ingredients, and thinking through different steps. The competition also involved planning, organising, and making decisions, which are all important cognitive skills developed in middle childhood.

My artifact is the cheer uniform worn by me throughout my time on this team. Being part of a team helped me learn how to cooperate, communicate, and work together toward a common goal. It also gave me the opportunity to develop leadership, empathy, and teamwork skills, which are all essential for navigating social relationships in this stage of life.
