More than a billion people (more than 1 out of 7) living in extreme poverty

Peasants living within Ethiopia with no modern transportation, dry land area (showing poor farmers), trying to produce enough food for their families and a small amount for income.

More than half of the world's population living within poverty live within rural areas, the urban poverty is known to is (normally living next to urban wealth)

Even though some people are poor in urban areas there are still the same as people who are poor is rural areas, both not being able to seek the necessary basic minimum needs

Poverty is a many dimensional concept, normally being seen as a lack of income but can also be seen from the lens or lack of access to basic health services, basic amenities that most of the world take advantage of.

Portions of the world have been decreasing in numbers. There is still a huge amount of poverty with 1-2 billion people struggling for their own basic needs.

Looking at average income as a sense of poverty, average income divided by the population. Showing the variation in income areas.

Extreme poverty in concentration in 2 main areas; tropical african countries that is the part of african between the northern and southern areas. Half of the population can be seen as living in poverty. Secondly looking at south asia; india, pakistan, nepal, bangladesh, countries that can sometimes be experiencing economic growth but still with large populations living in poverty. Thankfully these rates are dipliciting

Normally with poverty rates being high this can cause; violence, leaving the countries, natural disasters, diseases.

Another aspect of poverty looking at diseases and thus depleting their life span and having a high under 5 mortality rate. Tropical african showing a high amount of diseases and this rate of high under 5 mortality rate.

The differentiation between rich and poor can be seen quite obviously such as Rio de Janeiro with the slums being right next to the high rise building.

Looking at how the places differentiate and why some parts of the state would have a high amount of poverty? If it could be due to isolation or exploitation?

How did the World become Divided between Rich and Poor?

The Poverty Trap.
Government making bad financial decisions that have lasting impact on a country.
Governments are bankrupt due to wars, overspending or under-taxing.
Some countries have less than ideal physical restrictions to trade and economic growth e.g. landlocked countries or countries in regions where a specific disease is rampant.
Corruption in government can prevent efficient law enforcement and policy decisions.
Division within a country between social or ethnic groups can form cultural barriers which prevent unified action within the country.
Relations between a country and its neighbours can affect development.
Countries that have suffered from colonial rule may also struggle to develop due to economic and political instability.

Why does Poverty Persist Despite such great Global Advances in Knowledge and Wealth?

Solutions to global problems can only be found on a case by case basis; there is no one singular answer to the world's countries.
The poverty trap: if the government doesn't have the basic costs for fundamental infrastructure, it is very difficult to lift the people out of poverty. Poverty is a cycle that that can usually only be escaped by borrowing money. Most of the time this leads to extreme debt and financial problems which can make the country's situation worse instead of better.
