So I'm sitting on the fence I guess

I personally am against the change because the change in system means that a heavier emphasis on academics (examinations) and not on other important skills like participation and teamwork skills.  This, in a way, defeats the purpose of Problem Based-Learning. This change will also mean that students are unlikely to take lessons seriously due to not being graded for daily lessons.

I feel that the grades will be too dependent on one area which is the End Semester Exam which will then give no areas for the students to fall back on if they were to fail their End Semester Exam. Although it may seem like a good thing, having lesser areas to focus on. However, students will then find it stressful to cram everything that they have learnt for the End Semester Exam. It will then put more stress on them definitely. Fear of the unknown - I feel that having daily grades allow us to kind of keep track of our grades and better gauge how well/poorly we will do. Doing away daily grades and putting heavier weightage on examinations make me fear that i may not be able to adjust because we are not able to rely on our CA grades anymore, so i may do badly.

Breaking Routines - I am also against this change because i have gotten rather used to CA grades and have relied on it to do well. Firstly, the removal of other forms of evaluation methods limits the variety in assessment of a student's understanding. We learnt how people learn differently through VARK and now we also know that other methods of evaluation benefits certain type of learners too. Removing this aspect of assessing a student's attainment of knowledge limits out academic understanding of said student. 

On top  of that, the removal of other components subsequently increases the percentage weightage of the 2 remainding components. If I fail 1, I most certainly fail the whole module.

Having daily grades helps us to subsequently monitor our progress and work hard accordingly to push our grades higher. It evaluates student’s learning more meticulously and it reflects on their attained knowledge better. It is more reliable, assessing more graded deliverables to show student’s attained knowledge. I feel that there’s pros (for) and cons (against) for the new changes. 
for the new changes: 
some students may find it difficult to understand the concepts in one day, thus they may feel that having end sem exams would allow them to have time to go through the concepts at their own free time and be prepared for the exam, which would pull up their grades for the modules as it holds a high weightage. 
against the new changes: 
students may start to slack and not listen in class after knowing that their daily grades does not really affect their overall grade for the module. Some of the students may not even turn up to class as they might feel that going to class is a waste of time because they could just go through the concepts at their own time.

I am also against the change for the reason that Daily Grades and mid sem exams help to maintain consistency in students and it may be less pressurising in the long term concerning their grades since they will be working with different weightage.
In the end, I think I would support a different change that requires both choices to compromise. This is especially so for Year 3 students who have been in RP for long. They may not be able to cope with the new method of grading. A heavy weightage of 70% on the ESE may not be beneficial to all because it may instil high levels of fear and anxiety in students. In fact, it could be based off a one-shot wonder whereby students only revise their work till the very last minute and got "lucky". Hence, scoring well for their examinations. However, others who have consistently placed in the effort to continuously improve and further their attainment of knowledge, may not have their efforts accurately captured.
