We continued with a visit to the House of Gibanica in Renkovci. Our guests learned about the process of making our traditional desserts – prekmurska and prleška gibanica. Of course, they also tasted them… and we believe they enjoyed them. In the end, we tested our skills in a traditional walnut game.

Then we went outdoors, to our winter idyll❄️, our Spanish guests tried cross-country skiing, sledding, and enjoyed good old snowball fight.

In the afternoon, we continued with the “Vision Board” workshop. The students created their vision boards using old newspapers and magazines. They focused on the year 2026, their future, wishes, and goals. In addition, with the help of AI, they created illustrations of a workspace that is sustainable, inclusive, and respects EU values. In this way, we combined sustainable practices, reflected on our future as EU citizens, and revisited shared values.

In the afternoon was dedicated to getting to know each other better and strengthening the bonds among our young participants. Students and teachers went swimming, and after the swim, we enjoyed a shared evening over pizza.

Wednesday, 14 January

We started with icebreaker activities. First, we played the Banana, Apple, Orange challenge. Then we tested how well we already knew each other with Two Truths and One Lie. The result surprised us, as by the second day we already knew each other quite well. This was followed by two workshops: Digital Album (digital literacy, digital tools, and motivation) and Brainfinity (critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration). After lunch in the school cafeteria, the students went home. In the afternoon, we of course continued with a diverse and engaging programme.

In the afternoon, the girls took the opportunity to visit the ice rink in Murska Sobota. They were joined by some boys from our school. This was followed by hot chocolate, which warmed everyone up nicely.

Thursday, 15 January

In the morning, we set off on an excursion to the capital city – Ljubljana. The bus ride itself was fun, made lively by musical performances along the way. There, we visited the House of Experiments, where we tried out various devices, took photos, laughed, and learned many new things about gases.

This was followed by a group activity exploring our capital city, Ljubljana. Working in teams, the students used the Actionbound app to answer questions and discover the city. In addition to gaining geographical and cultural knowledge, they also demonstrated their digital literacy and skills during the activity.

We warmed up briefly in a café that was a very special place in Ljubljana that week, as it was hosting Stranger Things Week. Afterwards, we went for lunch. This was followed by some free time at a shopping centre, where our Spanish guests picked up a few more souvenirs.

Friday, 16 January

We started the day with a sustainability workshop. The students upcycled old furniture (chairs) by sanding and painting them, decorating them with memories from the entire week. We then continued with another sustainability workshop, where we cut cloths from old fabric and coated them with wax. In this way, we made beeswax wraps for food storage, which we will use instead of plastic. Once again, some truly beautiful photos were taken during the activity.

After the snack break, we returned to the computer classroom, where we focused on foreign languages. The students took part in a Tongue Twisters acitivity, working in mixed pairs to learn expressions in Spanish and Slovene. Later, we held a short reflection on the entire week and, using key memories together with AI tools (ChatGPT and Suno), created songs that will remind us of this Erasmus+ experience.

Saturday, 17 January

Farewell. With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we said goodbye to our Spanish friends early in the morning. There were hugs, tears, laughter, and joy, knowing we will see each other again soon. Some even had enough energy in the morning for a TikTok challenge.
