<title>~Geography of Mayan and Inca Empires~The Maya Civilization lived in Central America, including south Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras between 2500 B.C.E and 1500 CE. The land forms and climates of South and Central America all had similarities and impacted the Mayan and Inca empires greatly.  Inca&#39;s were stretched along the west coast of South America. The Mayans were  spread through present-day Belize, most of Guatemala, and El Salvador. These areas are mostly covered in rain forests. The Inca empire was centered in Cuzco, Peru. The empire was located along the west coast of Southern America. It stretched along almost the whole range of the Andes Mountains. The Andes were one of the tallest mountain ranges in the whole world. So it was a great natural barrier on the eastern side of the empire. The Mayan culture spread through present-day Mexico, Belize, most of Guatemala, and parts of El Salvador. The furthest region it reached was the Petén Jungle in Guatemala. The Mayan empire was mostly on mountains so growing crops wasn&#39;t very easy. There were lots of ponds and lakes around so the Mayans created the floating gardens. The floating gardens are a way to grow crops on the top of water. First the Mayans built a wood platform, then they layered mud, plants, and compost over the wood platform that was in the water. Finally they would put one more layer of fresh dirt and then they would plant their crops. They mostly grew corn because it grew well in the climates.  </title>

<title>The Maya and Inca did not use &quot;money&quot; in the modern sense: There was no recognition for currency valuable items, like, seeds, salt, obsidian or gold tended to vary in value from one region or city-state to another, often rising in value the farther away these items were from their source. Some of the more popular trading goods were; jade, gold, copper, highly decorated pottery, and ritual items. These things were much more valuable to the Mayan and Inca than money. The Inca and Maya were good farmers so they would grow crops and then trade some of the produce from the crops.  </title>

<title>WARFARE The Inca and Mayan civilizations were fierce warriors. They were brutal with their captured war victims,  sacrificing them to their many gods. The Inca and Maya fought with the Spanish, but also with neighboring tribes. The Inca and Mayan used spires and other sharp objects for fighting. They would go into war on foot, neither the Mayans or the Inca had ever seen horses, that is why it surprised the Inca so much when they saw the Spanish conquistadors ride in on large horses. </title>

<title>Most all Mayan/ Inca family&#39;s arose before dawn to a breakfast of hot chocolate--or, if they weren&#39;t rich enough, a thick, hot corn drink and tortillas or tamales. The Mayan family all lived together. The men&#39;s duties including farming and hunting, while the women would cook and weave. The children helped out their mothers with the chores and only went to school if they came from a noble family.   The house was usually a one-room hut built of interwoven poles covered with dried mud. Meals of corn, squash and beans, with the occasional turkey or rabbit. </title>

<title>The downfall of the Mayan empire is a mystery. To this day we have no idea where this large, thriving civilization disappeared to. The Mayan downfall was in 900, so the Spanish had not invaded Mexico yet. Only our imaginations can tell us what happen to the great Mayan empire. On the other hand we know that the Inca empire ended in 1500 from deceases the Spanish brought when they invaded. Not only did the deceases spread through the city states knocking the majority  of people but when the couple hundred Spanish  attacked, they killed many of the soldiers and other civilians. </title>
