The war is often referred to as the second Persian Gulf War. The United States and Great Britain, along with various smaller countries, invaded Iraq and defeated the Iraqi military in a very short period of time. As a result, The U.S. held occupation of Iraq until 2011. The reason for all of this is because President Bush condemned that Iraq had ties to terrorism and the immense threat of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq dictator with weapon mass. Although, after all the fighting ended, no connections or weapons were ever found from the accusations. • 3,000 years ago the current land of Palestine and Israel was ruled by Jewish Kings from the area of Jerusalem. 
• The Palestine’s have had the land since the Jews were driven out. 
• After the Jewish group was forced out of their land, they would go to live in many different countries but had no true country to call their own. This is known as Diaspora. 
• After WWII Palestine was still part of the Ottoman Empire and the League of Nations and Britain decided to make it independent. During this time there was a strong Jewish population in Palestine and were asking for their own land. This caused a rise in conflict. 
• After WWII the UN decided it was time to get involved and held a vote to decide if the Jewish people should be given land in Palestine. The Islamic/Arab countries all voted against this idea, especially Palestine because it was their land that would be taken. 
• A portion of land was given to the Jewish people and it was called Israel. This caused much anger and outrage among the Arab countries. On the first day the country was proclaimed a state, it was attacked by numerous Islamic States.

He issued ballistic missile attacks, deadly chemical attacks, and attacks on third world country oil tankers. Thus making the war based on territorial and political disputes and fights.The war lasted 8 years, which resulted in about half a million casualties.
