There are different types of resorts created for sustainable tourism. The first is a resort that focuses on wildlife and nature conservation and offers activities such as wildlife watching, nature hiking and eco-adventures. These resorts are often located in remote rainforest, mountain or coastal areas. These are helpful not only for tourism but also for the protection of mountains and animals. The second is an agri-tourism themed resort, incorporating organic farming and a farm-to-table dining experience. They can help preserve culture and communicate with local people in the area. The third is a resort that combines eco-consciousness and luxury, minimizing the impact on the environment, but at the same time providing a facility where you can enjoy luxurious tourism. This is useful for responsible waste management.

The examples are solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric power plants. Energy efficient buildings are also one of the technologies used in eco resorts. The aim is to maximize energy efficiency, instead of reducing energy consumption and related greenhouse gas emissions. This helps the environment and examples include energy efficient insulation, LED lighting and efficient heating. It is also connected to water purification and desalination. It can be used to reduce water shortages and purify dirty water into clean water. Examples include membrane filtration, reverse osmosis and advanced water treatment systems and rainwater storage.
