"By trade, I am a DJ. Music is my passion, my release, and my first love. I compose mixes filled with the culture I was fortunate enough to inherit in order to make people dance, weep, sing, or escape into nostalgic happiness for a few minutes. I make things because it makes me happy. I produce to make other people happy. That is sometimes all we need in this messed-up culture."- DJ Sizzle

Myisha's art is extremely personal, but it also encourages us to link a part of ourselves to it, via her sorrow and her critiques of the border imperialistic system of the United States of America, and all borders in general. "Frontera Turbia (FTP)," inspired by a Guatemalan family she encountered while battling their deportation in the San Fernando Valley, depicts "the absurdity of being assaulted by the very organizations that governments profess to have placed in place to defend us."

Julio's art is chaotic and vibrant, expressing sensuality, tragedy, despair, and happiness all at once. When I asked Julio about the process of eliciting such a range of emotions, he reminded me that as artists, we must push ourselves to create, just as we do to make ends meet. "Do what you have to do to produce art; if you want to be a writer, you have to read, go to the library, and establish your own blog." To reclaim art history, you must create art."

Paula is well-known not only as a musician, but also as a visual artist whose paintings reflect a linear viewpoint to a chaotic arrangement of subjects ranging from grief, terror, and the diaspora of being an illegal immigrant. Her favorite media, though, remains music. "Right now, I'm in two bands - Peach Dream and Batty Blue - where I can express myself freely." Another significant reason I make music is to remind audiences that punk music (or any genre) isn't limited to all-male bands.

Adriana's art is nostalgic and heartbreaking at the same time as it is bold and vivid. Her work reflects her experience and her personal coming to grips with life as an undocumented and gay artist. "Through my art, I also attempt to consider what phrases like "undocumented" and "illegal alien" mean to me. I arrived in the nation when I was only 12 months old, so I have no recollection of crossing the border or even living in Mexico. Despite having little recollection of my life in Mexico, I recall my sentiments of loss, uncertainty, desire, thankfulness, and dread when I consider my entire experience as an undocumented immigrant. My artwork helps me reflect on how I feel like a "alien."

Armando's art lies in storytelling, in conveying our communities' tales with sincerity and relief. "The entertainment business has never featured people like me, like us; when are you going to see a series starring a gay, undocumented, Latinx lead actor?" It's critical that we demonstrate to people that this is for them; I want them to believe that this is for them. They don't want to generate projects like this since the entertainment business is so organized and white. I grew up watching "Friends," and I adored that program, but I'll never be like them, and it will never be my life. I, and we, require programs that represent us."

Guadalupe's work is all about our ancestors' endurance via our blood, bones, and flesh, and how we have endured it all through ceremony. "I utilize my menstrual blood to make a powerful message." I live despite the fact that you have divided my people. I have access to what you believe you destroyed. Using my blood to create transfers me into ceremonial space with my ancestors. It is not about the images themselves, but rather the act of making them. Giving in to the creative process. I give room for magic, symbols, and lines to come that my intellect may not understand, but my spirit will instantly recognize."
