Sophie loves playing an online game with her friends after school. One day, while playing, another player named Alex started sending her rude messages in the chat. Alex would make fun of Sophie’s character in the game, calling her “noob” (newbie) and “stupid.” At first, Sophie tried to ignore it, but then Alex started posting mean comments on Sophie’s social media, calling her names like "ugly" and saying things like, “Nobody likes you.”

Sophie felt really sad and confused because Alex was a classmate, and she didn’t understand why Alex was being so hurtful. Sophie tried talking to Alex directly, but Alex just laughed and told her to “deal with it.” Feeling upset, Sophie shared what happened with her mom and a trusted teacher. They helped Sophie block Alex on her social media and reported the messages to the game moderators. Sophie also learned that it’s important to speak up when someone is being hurtful online, and that cyberbullying is never her fault.
