Language is a form of personal knowldge, (being part of the WOKs), which then can be a way of communicating shared knowledge to other but can be interpreted in various ways due to various exposures of different cultures and beliefs. People should be aware of the ways other could interpret the knowledge being shared; this is to ensure we are being ethical in respecting each person. The way in which someone perceives something can be heavily influenced by language, (body, spoken and written), which could be previously influenced by previous experiences.

A way shared and personal knowledge shapes the way we view the world is the individual’s cultural language. Using the concept of language relativity is the most direct route of exemplifying this. Linguistic relativity is the theory that the individual’s language shapes the way they think or conclude opinions about the world through the information we receive. As someone who speaks English, a language not known for its familiarity with extreme colds or extensive exposure to snow during its creation, I perceive almost all snow to be a single thing, I may add an adjective before to describe the 'type' of snow, i.e. mushy snow. Note that I am still describing the snow as an individual concept only with an adjective attached to the ‘snow’, I do not think of this 'thing' as something akin or similar to snow, they are the same, this is an example of linguistic relativity, my thoughts on the subject are relating directly to the structure of my grammar and vocabulary of my language. Then there are the eskimo culture who's language (inuit) evolved naturally surrounded by extreme cold temperatures and would be distinctly different in their approach to something that is a fundamental part of their landscape and present every day of their lives. The eskimo would have an entirely different concept of ‘snow’, ‘snow’ would not be enough to capture the wide plethora of snowy days the would be presented. This is shown in their fifty different ways of saying, or versions, the word ‘snow’, exemplifying how their language shapes their personal knowledge of the world, and how the sharing of this language shapes their shared knowledge or communication involving ‘snow’. This is simply a microcosm of the wider sweeping concepts that a language can delve its manipulating fingers into.
