Union vs Confederacy fought at Mobile Bay. Mobile Bay took place in Baldwin County. Union wanted to take over the Bay because it had the last port that connected to the Gulf of Mexico that was owned by Confederate. The Confederate just wanted to keep the Union out of the bay so they could keep control of the port. The Union won the war. This was important for the Union because it cut The Confederate off from trade. After the Civil War nothing in Alabama was damaged, only 345 soldiers were killed.

Alabama was not too involved in war, they supplied iron and sent troops. Alabama was the main resource for iron. We had Iron Mines that supplied basically all of the Confederate’s iron, they relied on our supply. They used the iron to make naval gunboats and cannons. Alabama had 120,000 soldiers in their army. They sent 2,578 units to fight for the Confederate Army.
