1.Airtight
- Lack of oxygen is important for MFC&#39;s efficiency, as the electron transport would be limited by the availability of oxygen.

2.Higher surface area to volume ratio (In the cellophane paper/In the carbon fiber)
- Increase in electrode surface area increases current output. 3.Size of MFC 
-Increase in anode chamber volume and quantity of microbes increases current output. Increase in cathode chamber containing potassium ferricyanide (which gets used up in the reaction) should increase the lifespan of the cell.
