I told him that I was not going back. I had asked him if he could homeschool me. Unfortunately he has to work all day and it is against the law to not go to school. The reason I did not want to go to school was because my teacher told me to stop reading, and that was one of my favorite things to do with Atticus. I was walking home from school one day and saw something shiny in the knot hole of the Radley's tree. When I went to investigate I found that it was two pieces of gum. Jem was not very happy with me. He believes anything that comes from or is on the Radley property is poisoned.
