Advantages
Not much work to do as the system is already in place.
If you choose to store the information digitally then you can save space because you will not be storing paper anymore.
You can create backups if you store the information digitally
Disadvantages
You need to allocate a person to input the information into a computer or scan the paper depending on how you upgrade the system. This means that person will have less time to do the job they were originally doing.
This can cost more as you will still have to buy the paper but you will also need a place to store the information and you will also need to dispose of the paper.

New development
Advantages
The software is being developed and will most likely claim to be better than other systems on the market.
One of the reasons they are developing the new system is because they can see a problem with current systems on the market and aim to solve that problem with their new software.
3aaa can also suggest features that they would like if they are not included in the software already. The company may or may not implement these, as they are not obliged to do so.
Disadvatages
The software may have a high price attached to it if it contains a lot of features that a lot of schools and academies want.
The system is not specifically designed for 3aaa so they may be paying for features that they just aren't going to use.

Bespoke system
Advantages
3aaa are going to decide what the software will contain. This means that they will not be paying for features that they don't want and the software will contain all the features that they do want.
Other systems on the market may contain 90% of the features that 3aaa need but don't contain that last 10%. Advantages :
 - Shouldn't cost too much if they use an existing software package such as Microsoft Office 2016. Access could be used to create a database.

Disadvantages:
 - Users might have to be trained if they don't have sufficient knowledge of the software


Off the Shelf:

E.g. Kronos, uAttend, SIMs

Advantages
- Readily available to the customer. There will be no waiting times for the software to be developed. This is an advantage because the business can start using the software straight away

- Support will be available to the customer from the developers of the software. this may be included in the cost of the original purchase.

- May include cloud based backup, therefore data is less likely to be lost or stolen

Disadvantages
- When buying ready made software, there is already set parameters which have been implemented by the developers. These will not be able to be changed to each customers design.

Bespoke

E.g. ioStudios,   
Black Pepper Software Limited

Advantages:
 - The customer can have the software designed to the specification they want as the software will not have been developed before the customer states what they require. 

Disadvantage: 
 - It will be more expensive for the business as specialist developers may be required to build exactly what is required for the business.
 - As the software is not built yet, the time of the whole project will be longer than any other option.

Advantages 

Improve the functionality and minimise errors. Should be cheap as the current system is not very technical. Free off the shelf systems can be used 

Disadvantages

Will cost more than the current system.

Advantages

It’s Optimised and designed to support schools and colleges. Supports all sizes as it offers unlimited Users. Provides a modern online system that can be accessed multiple platforms. This means it can be accessed out of the office if required. It will offer a more reliable back up solution as it is electronic. The initial cost will be cheap however it can vary depending on the membership.
IT Support will be third party so there will be no extra costs. It can offer 3rd Party Integrations in order to interlink different payroll software with the clock in system.
