It is only justified if your actions will lead to some arbitrary concept like freedom. Its really just right when what you believe in doesn't hurt others and honestly, i would think that killing other people for what you believe in is pretty messed up, but that's the only way to get anything done in this society as shown by all the previous wars.
Moral of the story, Avoid war if possible and if it isn't possible try to end as little people as possible and keep the bloodshed low. However that's in my peaceful universe  but eh whatever.
