Dear Panelists,

Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with our class and share your experiences post QU grad! I truly appreciated hearing your perspectives as someone who will be looking for a job soon.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was how many of you landed your current roles through internships and on-campus opportunities. It was helpful to hear how those stepping-stones opened doors you didn’t even expect. It reminding me to stay open to experiences that might guide my own path in ways I can’t predict yet. I also learned a lot from your reflections on not knowing your roles existed until you were already on that trajectory. As someone exploring different directions, it reassured me that careers often start naturally and that it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away.

I also valued your advice about feeling empowered to turn down an opportunity that doesn’t feel right, and trusting that the right fit will come. Hearing that from people actively working in the field gave me confidence as I move into my own job search.

Thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedules to share your stories and insight with us.

Sincerely,
Emily Adorno

Dear Elisa, Amanda, Lindsey, and Justin,

Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to meet with us. It was great to hear four different perspectives from alumni.

To Amanda specifically, as someone who wants to open my own business post-grad, it was so helpful to hear your advice on balancing a full-time job with your own venture. I really want a career in communications, but, like you, I also have outside passions, so it was inspiring to hear how you balance both.

To Lindsey, it was great to hear how your experiences at Quinnipiac helped set you up for your first job. I also worked for Quinnipiac Marketing and found that to be one of the most valuable experiences during my time at QU.

To Justin, hearing about your experience across so many aspects of the communications field was great. I definitely see myself taking on multiple roles throughout my future career.

And to Elisa, I think it’s so cool that you’ve found so much success as an early influencer. It was funny to hear you mention the influencer project, as we are working on that right now. Even though I don’t want to be an influencer, it’s so important to build your social media presence in the communications field.

Thank you again for all of your insights and for answering so many of our questions. I hope to connect with you all in the future!

Sincerely,
Maeve Campbell

As someone who is nervous to find a job after I graduate, your insight put me more at ease.

I specifically want to thank Elisa. As an aspiring content creator, your understanding of the field and how to create effective content was extremely helpful to hear. I also did not know influencer marketing was a job, so that may be something I am interested in researching!

I also want to specifically thank Lindsey. Being a woman in sports is HARD, but your experiences show it can happen and that you can excel in a male-dominated field. To all of the alumni, I learned from all of you about what the reality of working in each of your careers is, which is so impactful. It was truly a great learning experience for me, and I appreciate the engaging information you shared during. Lindsay congratulations on landing your first post grad job with a great company! I really appreciate you giving us hypotheticals on a real situation that you encounter during your job. This gave me insight into a job I would be interested in doing. To all panelists I appreciated your honesty to our more personal questions like what one thing is you would have changed during your time at Quinnipiac. I agree that getting involved is very important and you have motivated me to make the best out of my last few months as an undergraduate. Again, thank you for your time and I hope to connect with you in the future!

Juliana Szynal

I really appreciate you sharing your experiences and perspectives, and it was incredibly helpful to learn about the different career paths that brought each of you to where you are today. The insight you all provided about your roles and how you’ve grown within your companies was very inspiring.

One of the biggest things I learned from the panel was the importance of being patient and open-minded when starting a career. Hearing each of you talk about taking different opportunities, learning along the way, and trusting the process helped reassure me that I don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out right away. As someone who is still unsure of what specific direction I want to take after graduation, it was comforting to know that exploration is normal and valuable.

Another piece of advice that really stood out to me was not settling for a job that doesn’t feel like the right fit. Your experiences showed that finding a company and environment that aligns with your values and strengths makes a huge difference. This is something I will definitely keep in mind as I begin my own job search and work toward finding a place where I feel I can grow and contribute meaningfully.

Thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedules to speak with us and for offering such thoughtful guidance. I truly appreciate the encouragement and insight you shared.

Sincerely,
Kathryn Coker
