-Call, email and reach out to parents- before there is an issue.  Let them know that you see how awesome their child is.

- A sense of humor is a must! 

-It is important to have high expectations and clear guidelines

- You can't do it all, do what you can.  Revise every year and improve

- Establish routines such as sharing the agenda and assignments with Google Classroom daily

- Don't get phased by bad behaviors - allow students to have off days just as you do

Challenging Parents
- Speak with a colleague and make sure administration is aware; you don't have to do this alone.  When first writing emails to parents, make sure the tone and language are checked by a colleague and/or administrator until you become more comfortable
- important to keep parents informed about excessive tardies and missing homework

- Try to be productive every minute you are here and use every minute you have. - Contact parent as quickly as you can and don't put it off

The activity is returned to me in an envelop during the first week or two of school. This helps me learn about my students and become aware of any concerns or hopes their parents/guardians may have.  

-I also create a monthly newsletter with reminders of events/special dates.
