<title>The established government, the Weimer Republic, was weak. This was due to a revolting population requesting basic needs such as food and shelter. The poor economy and massive debt prevented the government from fulfilling its part of the social contract, and the weak army, being limited to a capacity of 100,000, could not support the state. These factors contributed to the emergence of authoritarian Germany. </title>
