On the self motivation test I got a 48 out of 60. This score is wonderful according to the MindTools website. I make sure to get things done and don’t let things easily distract me. One of the ways that helps me stay motivated is a simple reward at the end of a task. This is an example of the Incentive theory. I use external stimuli to stay on track and motivated to finish a task. According to our textbook in chapter 11.1, on page 354, though extrinsic reward is effective it may create problems and unwanted consequences. To stay motivated without using extrinsic rewards I’m going to use my values and thoughts, this is the cognitions theory. I use this motivator everyday day when I go to school and do school work. I know that every assignment I do is getting me one step closer to becoming a nurse and being able to help others. This keeps me motivated to keep working hard.

I scored 57 out of 70 on the Self-confidence quiz.

I received a 57 out of 70 on the self-confidence test. Which according to MindTools is considered excellent. I learn from my experiences and don’t let hardships tear me down. Even though I’m proud of my self-confidence test score I know there is lots of room for improvement. Circling back to the MindTools website one of the ways I can build my self-confidence is by improving my problem-solving and decision-making skills. Something so minor could make a huge difference because these skills help increase my confidence when answering questions which would then make me more confident overall. Using our textbook in chapter 12.2, page, 396 we can also see that the social-cognitive perspective holds several advantages for a person’s self-confidence. Being able to have a change in environment and experience different real-world situations could help my self-confidence increase.

The time I used regression

As much as I try to think before I act, sometimes I just make decisions without thinking them through. One day me and my sister were talking and she said something to me that I didn’t like and instead of being rational and telling her that I didn’t like it I just ignored it and acted nonchalantly toward her until I forgot about it. This behavior continued until one day I was fed up and threw a fit about what she kept saying, but she had no idea I was taking offense to it. At that moment I demonstrated regression. I responded immaturely in that situation and should have been straight up from the beginning to not create built-up anger.

Best piecesof information in chapter 13

The best pieces of information in Chapter 13 are in Table 13.2. In this table, it gives us the common myths about psychological Disorders. The myths included are mentally ill people are dangerous, psychological disorders are a sign of weakness, People with psychological disorders are very different from regular people, and finally, a mentally ill person can only have low-level jobs and will never fully recover. The table shows all of these myths and then gives the facts showing how these are far from the truth. I believe that this section in chapter 13 is extremely important because the unfairness and prejudice against people with psychological disorders should not be tolerated, and people need to learn that these myths are not true.

Topics I found most interesting

The two topics I found most interesting were operant conditioning and the 5 stages of sleep. I found operant conditioning to be extremely interesting because it's something that we do on a daily basis without even realizing it and has such a big effect on others. I also found the 5 stages of sleep as one of the most interesting topics because we never really think about what happens to us while we’re unconscious. It’s crazy to see and understand how much of our body is still on and working while we are not mentally.

I really enjoyed this class and how it was all set up. I loved how Mrs. B organized the moodle so there would be no confusion about anything or where everything was. There were always so many details for assignments making it so easy to understand exactly what to do. Each slideshow for chapters made it easier to study for exams and fully understand the material. I also enjoyed the Willey assignments and how there was always a video that explained everything or an animation that made the work enjoyable. I thought the video recorded discussion board would be out of my comfort zone, however since Mrs. B gave us an option to use a picture instead. It made things a lot better and I did it with ease. This class overall was amazing and really enjoyable.
