Rasipuram Krishnaswami Ayyar Narayanaswami, or R. K. Narayan, is one of the most celebrated Indian novelists writing in English. He was a leading author of early Indian Literature in Engish along with Mulk raj anand and Raja rao .He was born in Chennai, Indian in 1906 in a working class south Indian family.He was one of eight children; six sons and two daughters. Narayan was second among the sons; his younger brother Ramachandran later became an editor and the youngest brother Laxman became a cartoonist. His father was a school headmaster, and Narayan did some of his studies at his father's school. R K Narayan’s quotes also seem to be a medicine for many people who are feeling down in their life.Reared by his grandmother, Narayan completed his education in 1930 and briefly worked as a teacher before deciding to devote himself to writing. His first novel, Swami and Friends (1935), is an episodic narrative recounting the adventures of a group of schoolboys.Narayan is the true master of humour, irocny, realism, romance and artistry.He was also nominated to the Rajya sabhya, the upper house of India's parliament.This master died on 13 May 2001 at the age of 94.
