  • We started our first week of the 2nd module with Dr. Jihada Izzah giving us a briefing session regarding what we're supposed to do.
  • In the beginning, Dr told each of us to write our names, what we're interested in, and a personal photo so she could get to know us better.
  • After that, the Dr told us to read through the lab sheet so we can have a brief idea before the briefing session.
  • From what I understood, we are supposed to design a Lateral Flow (LF) biosensor. In which we will use COMSOL (student version) to simulate the design.
  • What we need to do now is to gather some information about the topic, and hence, share it among the group next Saturday so we could start doing the proposal.

  • Our group made a google meet link for us to further discuss the criteria of our proposal and thus, to identify our problem statement.
  • Each of us has taken a subtopic of the proposal and started working, we set the deadline before next Tuesday, so if there's anything needs to be edited we'll have time to do so.
  • I started searching immediately as I took "Oral Bacterial Infection & Saliva" part of the proposal, hence, I have found many journals and references regarding this subtopic.

  • As the 2nd week starts, I managed to obtain more than 5  references which I used to complete my part of proposal.
  • The main problem was that Najib had already done some of my part in google docs, which was my mistake for not updating the gdocs and doing it in a separate word file then sending it to the group.
  • I edited some of my content because it was repeated from what Najib wrote, hence, I added the rest to his part and finalized the whole Saliva & Oral Bacterial Infection part.

  • Our supervisor Dr. Izzah made a google meet link to further discuss our progress regarding the proposal and model.
  • I realized that we had been focusing on gathering information since this is our first time working with COMSOL and LFB, we had forgotten to identify the parameters of our model, and hence, Dr. Izzah made sure to inform us of what we've missed and other parts that need to be edited.
  • For my part, I forgot to add notations, and thanks to the help of Dr. Izzah, I also realized that some of the paragraphs were quite long.
  • For the general part, our problem statement was quite weak and lacking crucial points regarding our topic.
  • For this weak, I'll start addressing my part clearly, and search for more information regarding parameters and start the design and schematic diagram for the next week.

  • As the 3rd week started, the university suspended all activities due to the floods happening in KL which many students have been affected by them.
  • We made a google meet link for us to start our work and divide it among us.
  • I entered the meeting at first, but then my internet connection went down without any further notice, which enabled me from participating with the group meeting.
  • Hence, I asked my group members of what was the content of the meeting, and they already had distributed the work.
  • I took the part of report writing alongside with 2 other members, and the rest took the simulation part.

  • Members of other teams have been reaching out to me regarding what software could possibly use antigens and other important parameters of bacteria, and I've been able to give advices to them from what my group and I have found.

  • We have finally found out what bacteria we're going to diagnose using LFBs, which is Periodontitis (Mouth gum bacterial infection).
  • Luckily, I have already been reading on this topic and found many interesting Journals and references mentioning it and making experiments.
  • This gave me the excitement of reading more about this interesting topic.
  • Dr. Izzah also informed us in the group that she will be checking our entries for Week 2&3, which I've already did .

  • I've finished my part of the weekly write-up, and currently reading more about our project.
  • The main problem I'm facing is that there's no sufficient references regarding Neisseria Gonorrhea bacteria, therefore I'm trying to find information from different websites for this particular bacteria, and other references for LFBs, and hopefully connect both of them in some way to meet our project standards.

  • Dr. Izzah sent the meeting link on e-learning and we started to discuss the updates as usual.
  • As we went through the discussion, we figured out that there's no sufficient references regarding N.Gonorrhoae.
  • We started searching while the meeting is on to look for antigens of NH but didn't manage to find any.
  • At almost 4:30 p.m, my internet connection went off and couldn't reach out to my fellow team members and Dr. Izzah.
  • Right after the internet came back at 6:00 pm, I asked my friends right away to give me and update of what has been done and discussed after my internet went off.
  • Dr. Izzah sent the recorded meeting so we could revise what's needed to be done for the next week.

  • Today I started to edit on the proposal, and what Dr.Izzah has mentioned in the class all taken on account.
  • Although I have very limited references regarding our topic, I managed to find a few interesting ones and began citing information from them and adding to our proposal.
  • Dr. Izzah told me to share one of the references that I've found, but a major problem was that this journal was published way back in 1968, but contains a numerus information regarding NH and the antigens and antibodies used for detection purposes.

  • Alhamdulilah my part was good and the Dr mentioned few stuff regarding our presentation, which was supposed to be on next week.
