         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br>"Work" against implicit biases against students of colors. The first statement supports this because he wants his students to critically examine their texts and their lives.  <br>He also accomplishes this by vocalizing the fact that he expects them to be capable of this - he has no bias that his students of color are incapable of doing hard, thoughtful work.   By putting this statement out to other teachers, he enlists them to trust their students as well.<br><br>Clint Smith wants students to be truthful and honest about themselves and therefore we assume he would support them communicating in any language that is most truthful. <br><br>"Celebrate" He not only wants students to be able to critically read but also wants students to write about their "truths".<br><br></div>]]></description>
