The summary is that Suzy and Franny have been best friends their whole lives, but then they entered middle school. And all the sudden Franny was hanging out with the popular girls, to leave Suzy lonely. Franny goes on a family vacation in Maryland, but she drowns swimming on the ocean. Suzy knows that she is an amazing swimmer, so she doesn't think that is what happened. She wants to prove that she got stung by irukandji jellyfish.
