Integrating STEM education into the computer classroom through a hands-on Solar Tracker and Fire Alarm project is nothing short of transformative. It turns passive learning into active discovery, where students become inventors, problem-solvers, and innovators. By designing a solar tracker, they witness how code, electronics, and environmental science come together to capture the sun’s energy more efficiently. At the same time, building a fire alarm system introduces real-world applications of sensors and automation — empowering students to create solutions that could one day save lives. This fusion of theory and practice sparks creativity, sharpens critical thinking, and nurtures a deep understanding of technology’s role in sustainability and safety. In this dynamic learning environment, every wire, sensor, and line of code tells a story — a story of young minds engineering a smarter, safer, and greener future.

In Cambodia’s journey toward educational reform, the integration of digital tools and technologies is not just a trend—it is a transformative movement. At the center of this change stands the Department of Digital Transformation (DDT) of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), championing innovation, inclusion, and long-term sustainability.

Over the past decade, DDT has played a critical role in modernizing Cambodia’s education landscape. Through the design, deployment, and maintenance of platforms such as eLearning.moeys.gov.kh, sala.moeys.gov.kh, exam.moeys.gov.kh, and beep.moeys.gov.kh, DDT has helped expand access to quality educational resources nationwide. These platforms serve as national hubs for digital learning, professional development, and interactive content delivery.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, DDT’s quick adaptation ensured the continuity of learning across Cambodia. Tools such as Moodle-based LMS, Nextcloud storage systems, and Zoom-integrated e-learning platforms empowered teachers to reach students in even the most remote provinces. At the same time, DDT provided training, technical support, and policy recommendations to promote digital literacy and pedagogical adaptation.

Importantly, DDT does not work in isolation. It partners with development agencies, NGOs, telecom operators, and local stakeholders to implement scalable solutions. Whether through initiatives like free data access for students, offline digital resources for rural schools, or the Khmer Sign Language app for learners with disabilities, DDT is helping bridge the digital divide.

Nevertheless, challenges remain—ranging from infrastructure limitations to gaps in digital skills. DDT is actively addressing these through capacity-building workshops, the deployment of localized open-source technologies, and cross-sectoral collaboration. By listening to schools, teachers, and learners, DDT ensures that the technology serves real needs, not just trends.

As trainers and educational leaders, we must build on the foundations laid by DDT—by promoting responsible use of digital tools, empowering our peers, and contributing to a resilient, tech-enhanced educational ecosystem.

This is more than a technological upgrade. It is a national mission to ensure every child in Cambodia has access to a brighter, smarter future.

With solar panels, we can turn sunlight into electricity, anywhere and anytime.

First, we use it for automated irrigation systems. Solar energy powers water pumps and sensors that check the soil. If the soil is dry, the system waters the plants — no human needed. This saves water and helps farmers grow more with less. 🌱💧

Next, solar-powered traffic lights keep our roads safe. Even in power cuts or rural areas, they keep working, guiding cars and people — day and night. 🚦

And finally, robots! From farm robots to delivery bots, solar energy keeps them running without needing to recharge from the grid. These robots help with planting, cleaning, or even teaching. 🤖⚡

The first workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of block-based programming using Scratch, seamlessly transitioning to mBlock for Arduino simulation, where they connected coding concepts to real-world electronic components.

The second workshop empowered primary, middle, and secondary school teachers to boost their digital teaching skills through innovative Scratch-based projects that cultivate computational thinking and creativity in the classroom.

During my journey to South Korea, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a cutting-edge learning environment focused on artificial intelligence and robotics. Thanks to the KLIC program, I attended hands-on workshops, collaborated with international students, and discovered the technological advances that position Korea as a global leader in innovation. This experience not only strengthened my technical skills but also broadened my cultural perspective and motivated me to pursue ambitious projects in the field of smart technologies.

Description:

Example: Most modern LANs use star topology.

Description:

Computers are connected in a circular path.

Data moves in one direction around the ring.

Advantages:- Performs well under heavy load, No collisions

Disadvantages:- If one device fails, the whole network stops, Hard to add or remove devices

Example: Used in some older networks.

4. Mesh Topology (3 minutes)

Description:

Every device is connected to every other device.

Advantages:- Very reliable (multiple paths), High performance,

Disadvantages:- Very expensive, Hard to install

Example: Used in critical systems (military, banking).

Description:

Combination of star and bus topologies.

Branch-like structure (looks like a tree).
