I chose this book because I am familiar with his story and it intrigued me. He grew up poor and was constantly abused by his dad and the kids around him. He learned to overcome it all through self-discipline and learning to toughen and control his mind. He became a navy seal and was one of the very few African American men who had ever achieved that.
