Jamendo is a site that allows you to download music with a Creative Commons license. What does this mean? You can remix, use, and replay their music as long as you give original credit to the artist. If you are going to play your music at a public event (for profit), you have to sign-up for a commercial license. Notice that each artist can give a specific type of license to their music. The visual code that the site uses is include below.
Why Worry about Copyright?

Copyright may seem like no big deal- you're just using sound files and photos for an informal project, right?

Wrong. No matter the reason, you have to abide by copyright law. They are a law. And you have to give credit where credit is due.

Well who wants to spend all of their time figuring out what you are and are not allowed to "take" and use?

You do. Because, like I said, it's the law. But don't worry. We've compiled some resources and support to help you along the way. Take a look at each post and it's description. It will let you know how you can use these sites in your project. Feel free to use these options, or use what you've learned here to find your own.

Sounds to good to be true?
Well it isn't, and it is.

Sites like these ask for a yearly membership fee. You pay to use the site, so in effect, you are really paying for the use of the sounds. They are not really free for you to use without any strings. If you are making a living on your remixes, and sound effects, sites like these can be useful. For small projects, however, stick to sites that can you a more limited library, but do not ask for a credit card.

Audioblocks © 2017
