In The New York Times' article "How Ukraine’s Military Has Resisted Russia So Far", one can gain an understanding of the surprising effectiveness of Ukraine's small army. This is evident through military experts analyzing that the troops of Ukraine are providing a "stiffer-than-expected resistance to Russian forces up and down battle lines". Further, Gen. Mark A. Milley describes that the Ukrainian forces are displaying a "hugely effective and mobile defense, using their knowledge of their home turf to stymie Russian forces on multiple fronts". In the article "The List of Global Sanctions on Russia for the War in Ukraine", the author shows that many countries across the world are pressuring Russia to stop their invasion of the Ukraine. As it is reported that "The United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada banned certain Russian banks from SWIFT" as well as "The European Union, United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Australia and Taiwan all hit[ting] Moscow with new injunctions", one can see the global response to this situation. This is no different with the leaders and governments of many countries who are displaying their great disagreement with Putin's actions. In the article "'The World Will Hold Russia Accountable': Leaders React to 'horrific events' in Ukraine" published by the USA TODAY, the writer shows reactions of leaders of countries across the globe reacting to the Russian's invading Ukraine. The Prime Minister of UK was one of the many who was very upset over Russia's actions as he stated, "I am appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and I have spoken to President Zelenskyy to discuss next steps." He further goes on to condemn Putin's actions by saying that Putin "has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine." He finishes with declaring that "The U.K. and our allies will respond decisively." Additionally, NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg responded to the invasion by telling reporters, "I strongly condemn Russia's reckless attack on Ukraine, which puts at risk countless civilian lives." Further, he goes on to say that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is "a deliberate, coldblooded and long-planned invasion." and that "Russia is using force to try to rewrite history,".  From the responses above it is clear that these leaders are taking a very firm stand against this invasion and have denounced it wholeheartedly. Through all of this, I have learned that not only are leaders of countries disgusted by Putin's actions, but they are also not mincing their words as they speak out against Putin. I also see that these leaders are fairly worries about this situation as it has been a unified and strong response to the invasion.

In response to the horrible terrors the Ukrainians are facing, many brave men throughout the world are joining the fight against Russia. In the article "The Foreign Fighters Joining the War in Ukraine", one can see this as it is reported that "150 former paratroopers who served in Afghanistan were already on their way to fight on the front line". This braveness is highlighted again in this article as The Independent reported that they know of "half a dozen former soldiers, emergency responders and regular civilians hailing from [various]countries" who are "crowdsourcing funds to join the largest ground war in Europe since the Second World War”. With the information listed above, it is evident that people in many countries of the world are stepping forward to try and help with this cause. In the article "'They Were Shooting Civilians: Ukraine Refugees Recount Abuses", readers can see a glimpse of the terror that the people of Ukraine are feeling. The article starts off by stating that over "2 million refugees from Ukraine [are] begin[ning] to scatter throughout Europe and beyond". The need to flee one's home because it is in the middle of a warzone is not only a terrible experience that a human should never have to go through, it is also deeply psychologically damaging and puts the people's lives in peril. Sadly, this is not the only terror that they are experiencing as many reports have said that the Russians "were shooting civilians" and  many confirmed this with one person replying, “That’s absolutely true. I witnessed it. First, the Federal Government should increase the sanctions that it has already imposed by completely banning any and all Russian goods coming into Canada. As well, the government needs to freeze all banks and other institutional organizations from doing any business, in any form, with Russia. While this will hurt Canada's economy and the people of Canada, it is a small sacrifice compared to what thew people of the Ukraine are suffering through. Finally, the government needs to continue to support the Ukraine with funding, military weapons, and aid, both in services and products, that will assist Ukraine. As for the people of Canada and the businesses of Canada, they should donate money and other essentials, such as medicine and medical equipment, that can be transported to Ukraine to help the people of the Ukraine cope with this catastrophe. Moreover, if all three of the above join with the like in other countries, there will be greater aid and support for the people of the Ukraine.
