Most students skip word problems or just guess and their guess is WAY off the mark, so if they practice reading and dissecting the word problem, then they will grow the needed confidence to approach other word problems

So I believe students are going to hate writing so much and being forced to read. I tell them they are in school and that's what we do. If they say they do not know where to start, I will tell them to google how to solve it, since they each have a chromebook and google knows it all. And I don't mean google the question, google how to solve this type of question.

My biggest obstacle is engaging my students with word problems overall. They do not like to read them and think it is too much. My students love incentives so that for sure will be one of my resolutions to keep them engaged.

I plan to introduce this after fall break, by taping it to their desks and referencing it as we solve problems. There is at least one word problem in each lesson to use it for.

For ESL students, language barriers and writing in English. For a lot of students fear of getting the wrong answer or lack of motivation. Also the amount of time it will take students to adjust.
