It felt odd to center so much of the meeting around an individual, conversational experience (that's not related to black lives btw). It would have been more helpful for us to think about as a school, as teachers, in what ways are we perpetuating anti blackness, what can we do about anti-blackness, what ways can we be involved in the current movement and center the conversation around Black Lives! And/or just having time to talk. Felt very strange to have someone just talk at us about their interaction of 'overcoming racism' with a student.
