The Aztecs allowed people in the lower "levels" to keep their property but had to follow certain rules, in order to be allowed to own and live on their land they had to pay their tributes to the empire entirely and on time. The leaders of the Aztecs were called calpullis, a calpullis is a group of interrelated people who made sure the communities were protected. The calpulli usually was a group and in the group, there was a main calpulli also known as the headman, the headman was a part of the city council. As part of the city council, the headman would make sure that everything ran smoothly in the city, each council had an executive council which had 4 members and these members were usually nobles or of the military society. -Maxalyn

They had great amounts of wealth and food. Due to this when the Spanish arrived the Aztecs were really friendly giving the Spanish food, gold, and other resources.
