It's common name is the Piping Plover or a "bird". 
If you look at the bird you are going to see a round and stocky animal that frequently stands in a horizontal position. They have round heads and large dark eyes that give them a bid-eyed look. Their bill is short and stubby. The length of the bird varies from 6-7 inches and it weighs 1.5-2 pounds. The color of the animal is a mix of browns ,blacks, and whites.

The birds are very sensitive to where they make their homes so if they see them leaving, then that can help the rangers help other animals in the area. Piping plovers also eat a lot of invertebrates that wash up on shore making it cleaner on beaches where people are used to walking.  If many more of them disappear, it wouldn't really hurt animals that prey on this bird. Our beaches are being polluted and taken over by new business and hotels.
