In sociology i learnt many things from viewing the world in a new sociological perspective to knowing how sociology has really developed from the times of aguste de compte up to today but a fascinating thing that has peeked my interest is that a society can function as any organism in the world does, With the different organelles that are contained within its body working in complete harmony to maintain it alive, Just as how it is in society where we have many different sectors that play a role and are a fundamental structure or systems that shape the society. These sectors are known as social institutions. It is made up of a wide array of entities but we can observe that has a profound influenced in our lives is family

Family is a fundamental social institution that plays an important role in shaping an individual which can also change society as a whole. Families vary in forms which include their nuclear and extended forms not to mention in terms of race have unique traditional beliefs that impact the social circle. But I believe that it can also contribute in a more broader perspective because it produces and nurtures the upcoming generation of citizens where the norms, values and traditions are passed down to the generations and these influences or alters their course in the future. There is always change, some are good and others are bad and it can be reflected through the childrens that are raised in today's society because in society there is always an expectation for every woman or man. The opportunities may seem unfair but that's just how society is an example in the past where women had many limitations with work and having low voices. It all changed with equality more rights and laws shaping our society into a better one. Family has a dynamic nature that reflects in every generation making it a subject of continues changes and adaptations to have a functioning society.

According to sociologist Gerhard Lenski's theory, technical advancement and the ensuing modifications to social structure are what propel society forward. Based on the degree of technology in each, Lenski divided cultures into five categories: post-industrial, horticultural and pastoral, agrarian, industrial, and hunting and gathering. He focused on the ways in which these developments affect societal structure, culture, and inequality.

Gerard lenskis only take on societal change is only due to the technology that has been invented where simple tools sustain simple primitive people and complex tools for a more complex societal structure. I believe that the man's adaption ability and reasoning played a huge role in the evolution of mankind. Without the gifted brainpower we possess the tools wouldnt have never been invented to serve its purpose.

Social stratification is the division of people in a society in a hierarchical arrangement based on many factors such as money, power, education and social statuses. There are mainly 3 types of social stratification which are the Indian caste system, class system and slavery or plantation system. In the caste system people are ascribed or born into their unequal groups based on there parents status and remain in there groups until death. The class system people are born into the social rankings but as it's an open system people can move up or down with the result of Thier own effort. As for the slavery system where the level of power was mainly determined by colour where white was seen as symbol of superiority over the many other races. Social stratification led to many unequal and unjust actions and opportunities where some people had more advantages and privileged over others.

Reflection : I concur to a certain extent with Karl Marx's view on the social stratification system whereby being in the high classes it does give you certain privelages and benefits over the lower classes. In todays day an age money can get you just about anything even happiness and so it can also act as a mean of motivation for others to persist and strive for better lives because even though some people are lucky and are ascribed into the highest level of the pyramid it doesn't mean that it isn't achievable it just might take sacrifices and hardwork but as long as you push hard enough the reward is satisfactory. we don't have to always see the glass half empty but instead as half full because change into more just and equitable society starts with you.
