The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity, or the Unification Church, is a religious movement that began as the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity. This group eventually split into smaller organizations in the 1990s. Moon established a church in South Korea, where he began to develop his doctrinal beliefs. Moon was a strong believer of a religion centered on marriage and family values. These were a blend of Christian and Confucian principles. Moon organized large weddings as a result of its belief in a religion built on marriage. The church is well-known for its weddings in large groups.

The unification church was notorious for their large weddings where hundreds if not thousands of couples were married in these huge weddings. The brides would wear white hanboks or kimonos from Korea or Japan. The groomsmen are dressed in tuxedos, some with red ties and white scarves around their necks. Some are attending for the first time, while others are renewing their vows.

How does this cult exist as an example of group think?

Group think is how individuals of a group conform or change their minds in order to suit the group's consensus. The Unification Church is affected by four different types of group think. Group cohesiveness, directive leadership, lack of norms, and homogeneity.

group cohesiveness: The Unification Church has a strong sense of unity because of its common belief that God intended for Jesus to create a perfect marriage in order to redeem humanity and make amends for Adam and Eve's sin. Moon and his second wife, Hak Ja Han, were the True Parents in marriage. If they are True Children, couples who marry within the Unification Church are only linked to God through their True Parents.

directive leadership: Moon is undeniably the Unification Church's leader. He has a significant presence in the Church as a "True Parent" and founder of the Church. Moon is the one who assigns the bride and groom to each other in large weddings. Moon holds the members' fate in his hands, and they have faith that he would match them with their ideal mate.

lack of norms: There are no rules in the church that require precise practices. In other words, this group's rituals and regulations make no logical sense. These members believe that what Moon is saying to them is in line with God's and Jesus' will. They believe that the mass weddings are planned so carefully that they will find their ideal partner and by doing so erase the damage caused by Adam and Eve. Moon, in reality, is looking over photos of the people to see if they look good together.

homogeneity: The members have a very similar social construction. The most obvious example is that they all hold the same Unification Church ideas and viewpoints. And the majority of the members of this group are Korean.
